The traditional model of therapy does not serve everyone. That’s why we are excited to announce Bloom EMDR Intensive Therapy treatment programs. These therapeutic programs involve, after a month of extensive client preparation, scheduling long sessions (2 hours) close together (3 per week). 

We offer both standard and intensive EMDR therapy to individuals from Blackwood and other locations across South Australia. For those unable to visit in person, our dedicated Online Psychology Services are available to support you.

About Our Program

We have various treatment programs designed to meet individual needs. Our Standard treatment option is equivalent to around 11 sessions in the conventional fortnightly therapy schedule, typically taking 5 months (or longer) to complete. 

This intensive method allows us to move through the 8 phases of EMDR therapy and address the core of an issue. It’s a deliberate and efficient use of time, energy, and focus. Research supports its ability to enhance wellbeing*.

Understanding EMDR Intensive Therapy

Your EMDR intensive therapy journey involves 3 stages. 

EMDR Psychologist {suburb}

1. Preparation

This stage is over 4 weeks and enables you to do some groundwork in the lead-up to Stage 2 (the EMDR Intensive stage of treatment). It prepares you (and me) for these sessions and ensures the most effective use of our time together. It encompasses the following; 

Week 1

  • Digital Questionnaires and Evaluations
  • Taking a detailed history

Weeks 2-4

  • Initial 60-minute consultation
  • Videos explaining psychological techniques
  • Methods to help regulate your nervous system
  • Journal prompts to gather key information

2. Intensive & Targeted EMDR Treatment

This stage includes;

Extended, frequent therapy sessions (in person or via Zoom)

A bespoke resource pack designed to assist you through and after this stage

Yoga practice recordings to get your mind and body ready for intensive therapy, and aid relaxation and integration post-treatment

Bloom Psychology & Yoga Therapy

Hi, I’m Sarah. I’m a clinical psychologist and EMDR therapist, also a certified yoga teacher and yoga therapist. I bring over 20 years of experience in psychology, having worked with numerous clients, in different settings, and across various psychological conditions. I’m a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and The EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA). 

My practice is focused around EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) therapy, after observing the beneficial impact it offered to many of my clients. I have also undertaken advanced training in a number of psychological modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness and neuropsychological based therapies, which I draw on to support the EMDR approach. I now work exclusively with EMDR Intensive therapy, allowing for maximum focus on addressing the core issues behind your mental health concerns, with less distraction from the ups and downs of daily life. 

I am committed to offering tools, strategies, and concepts that assist people in overcoming psychological challenges and help them feel more at ease in their lives.
